Unit 1 · Level 2 · Rules & checklists

Willpower is a battery

League 1 introduced you to the demons: FOMO, fear, greed, hope. League 2 builds the cage. Psychologists once claimed willpower drains like a fuel tank ('ego depletion'); the strong lab version hasn't replicated well, but the practical truth survives every test: after a long day of decisions, your discipline is at its worst exactly when markets are most tempting. So we stop betting on in-the-moment strength and start building systems that don't need it.

What you get asked

  1. Why do written rules beat in-the-moment willpower?

The market only needs you to be weak once. A written rule made at breakfast doesn't get tired at 22:00. You do.

  2. Put a normal decision-heavy day in order, fresh to fried

Decision fatigue is boringly predictable: quality degrades as the day's choices pile up. Systems exist for hour ten, not hour one.

  3. Discipline is least available at the moment you need it most, so set your rules ___, not in the heat of a trade.

Calm-you is the best trader you'll ever be. Let that version make the decisions and let tired-you just follow orders.

  4. What's the honest scientific status of 'ego depletion', the claim that willpower drains like a muscle?

Formiga doesn't need the folk-science version. Sleep-deprived, stressed, decision-loaded people measurably make sloppier calls, and that's all a trading system needs to justify itself.

  5. A rule only protects you if…

Vague rules dissolve under pressure; 'in your head' rules get rewritten by whichever demon is loudest. Paper, pixels, precision. 🐜
