Unit 4 · Level 1 · Keeping It Safe
Scams: the greatest hits
The moment you touch markets, you become a target. The good news is that scams are shockingly repetitive: learn the five classics and you're immune to ~95% of them.
Free to play. No ads, no token, no account needed to start.
What you get asked
Match the scam to its costume
Fifth classic: fake giveaways ('send 1 ETH, get 2 back'). All five run on the same fuel: urgency plus greed.
An account with a verified badge DMs you: 'Exchange support here. We detected an issue, share your screen to secure your funds.' What's true?
It's a scam. Urgency is the tell. Every real process survives you saying 'I'll log in myself through the official app and check.' Scams never survive that sentence.
Why does 'guaranteed 20% monthly' mathematically scream scam?
They wouldn't need your $500. Anyone with a real money-printer doesn't sell tickets to it. Risk-free high yield violates how markets work at a physics level.
Scams almost always manufacture ___ so you act before you think.
'Only 3 spots left', 'offer expires tonight', 'act now or lose access'. Real opportunities survive a night's sleep. Fake ones can't afford to.
Formi's universal scam filter: which question defeats nearly all of them?
Strangers don't gift money to strangers. Every scam is a story explaining why this time they do. The story is always false. Stay skeptical, stay wealthy. 🐜🛡️
