Unit 3 · Level 3 · The long-game identity

You are not your P&L

The most corrosive sentence in trading has three words: "I am down." Not "my position is down." I am. When your self-worth rides on the day's P&L, every red number is a personal insult and every green one is proof of genius. Both reactions destroy judgment. The traders who last build a wall: over here is me, my health, my people, my competence. Over there is a number that wiggles.

What you get asked

  1. Match the fused thought to its separated version

Same facts, different grammar. The separated versions describe events; the fused ones describe YOU. Only one of those framings leaves your judgment intact for tomorrow.

  2. Why does fusing identity with P&L lead directly to bad trading?

Cutting a loser is trivial when it's 'a position' and agonizing when it's 'proof I'm smart'. League 1's hope demon feeds on exactly that fusion. Bags get held to protect stories about ourselves.

  3. A red day means your trades lost money. It does not mean ___ are a failure.

Trades have outcomes; people have processes. Grade the process, log the outcome, keep the two in separate boxes.

  4. Which habit most strengthens the wall between you and your P&L?

Give your ego a job it can actually control: following the plan. Adherence is 100% yours; short-term P&L never was. Score what you own.

  5. Your friend says "I'm up €3,000 this month, so I finally matter." What's the loving-but-honest warning?

A self-worth meter wired to the market swings both ways, and the market swings hard. Keep the wall up in good months too. That's when it's quietly being dismantled. 🐜
