Patience as edge
Every mechanical edge gets competed away. Speed? Firms spent hundreds of millions on microwave towers to shave milliseconds. You will not out-run them. Information? Priced in before you finish reading the headline. But patience (the ability to wait weeks for an A+ setup, hold a winner without fidgeting, and do nothing while others churn) can't be bought, coded, or arbitraged. It's scarce precisely because it's painful. That's why it still pays.

Why can't patience be arbitraged away like speed or information edges?
An edge survives only if something stops the crowd from copying it. Nothing stops anyone from being patient, except that boredom, FOMO and itchy fingers stop almost everyone.
Impatient Iva takes 200 trades a year at an expectancy of −€5 each (forced setups, fees, slippage). Patient Petra takes 50 trades at +€40 each. How many euros does Petra finish ahead of Iva over the year?
Petra: +€2,000. Iva: −€1,000. Gap: €3,000. Iva 'worked' four times harder for a worse result. Activity and edge are different things, and only one of them pays.
Overtrading turns even a good system bad, because every forced setup drags your average ___ toward zero and below.
Your A+ setups might earn +€40; your C setups −€5. Take both and you own the blend. Patience is simply refusing to dilute your own edge.
Match the edge to why retail traders can or can't own it
Be honest about the arms races you can't win, then invest everything in the one that isn't a race. Time horizon and temperament are the retail trader's real moat.
